Background:
In a new city park project, a landscape walkway connecting various attractions needed to be created. The trail should be aesthetically pleasing and blend in with the natural landscape of the park, but also have good durability to withstand the daily trampling of a large number of tourists, wind, sun and rain, and also be easy to maintain in order to reduce the operating costs at a later stage.
The Challenge:
Traditional building materials such as timber, although natural and rustic in appearance and in line with landscape needs, are prone to decay and deformation, requiring frequent anticorrosion treatment and replacement, and maintenance costs are extremely high; while stone, although strong and durable, is hard and cold, difficult to construct and costly, and has a relatively single choice of colours, which makes it difficult to create a dynamic and lively landscape atmosphere.
Solution:
Selection of wood-plastic composite materials to pave the landscape walkway. Wood-plastic products to wood chips, bamboo chips and other biomass fibres and plastics as the main raw material, through a special process. It not only retains the texture and colour of wood, the appearance of natural and beautiful, but also has the plastic waterproof, moisture-proof, insect-resistant, corrosion-resistant and other good properties, and construction is relatively simple, like wood, cutting, splicing. Construction team according to the trail design programme, the modular cutting of wood-plastic panels, and then the use of special connectors for rapid splicing and installation, greatly reducing the construction cycle.
Results:
The completed landscape walkway is aesthetically pleasing and complements the park's greenery, water system and other landscape elements, providing visitors with a comfortable walking experience. After a long time of use and observation, the wood-plastic walkway did not appear obvious deformation, decay phenomenon, only need to regularly carry out simple cleaning, will be able to maintain good condition, greatly reducing the maintenance costs, for the park management to save money and manpower.
